i felt bad for the people that were in line for gasoline.
I feel sorry for the people who could not get home on picture on 17 of the taxi cabs
i agree daniel :(
I also hope the 3 year old found her famliy. And it was so flooded you could kyak through the neighbourghood? And so much power went out that the city was lit mostly by cars? Grand Central Station nearly empty!? Sandy must be pretty powerful to do all that.
I agree Daniel, but the reason why is because most of New York was warned and evacuated so Grand Central Station was about empty.
I agree Molly. Exactly Daniel.
Me too Daniel they probably trying to go get shelter.
Is the first slide lightning over the city? I think the city is New York city or New Jersey.
Why did you or Mrs. Shand delete it? I wanted to see it!:(
They must be tired
Where is your period David.
the pictures mad me feel sorry for everyone who had to go threw that awful feeling of there house being destroyed and there cars being flooded the reason why i feel so sorry is because it could of happened to us but it happened to them instead.
This was chaos!!!! I agree Manasi. Are you really crying?
What do you think?
I don't think she is.
I feel sooo sad for those people. It was total chaos! It's really sad to see whole houses underwater. When we were chilling out!
I am currently crying.
So am i.
You are right Manasi. Why is everybody keep on saying choas why can't say crazy or something.
My dads parents were in the eye of the hurricane. The pictures made my almost cry. They were so sad. I can't even think about how sad the girls parents must have been so worried.
That is REALLY sad :(. at least 50 people died in Hati. I feel so sorry for them because they don't have a home and the storm hits and 50 people die.:(
NEHNEHNEHNEH(crying) I knowww:( Its so sad:( !!!!!
I feel your pain, <3 pickles. My aunt is currently in NY.
I have four cousins in New York and i feel sorry for them. There are three girls and one boy.
<3 pickles your pain is mine. So sad. So sad. "sniffle" "sob" Sorry guys.
I have to turn away...
My Aunts (and maybe Uncles) were hit BAD!!!!
I just had to turn away from the 3 year-old and click to the next picture. I felt pain in me:(:(:(
OMG!!! Really Aimee.
I am so sorry that people have lost their homes and some people have died. I am so greatful that it didn't hit us.
I am greatful too.
It made me feel bad. The little girl hit me it was so sad.
I feel sorry for the people who get stuck from the taxi cabs getting flooded on 17.
Jason don't you mean picture 17.
um it makes me feel sad because it hit new york and my cousin lives in New York , Washington, my aunt lives there and Phillidelphia my other cousin lives there also. its also sad because those people looked very sad and i feel bad for them because the hometown is flooded really bad and some of their homes could be really destroyed. the pictures make me feel very sad and yeah. Also my aunt (who lives in Washington) she was coming from maryland and yeah so yeah
but i dont know if shes safe
i felt so bad for all those people because of how much damage Sandy caused. Seeing all the house torn to peices just broke me and how New York got it so bad. Plus how much it cost to repair the damages. At there estimate of 50 Billion dollars.
The pictures make me feel like I could do anything to help. I would get down to the bad flooded places and try to help as much as I can. When I saw the news about all the freezing blizzard, I wondered about how much rain they would get if it was not so cold. It also made me wonder," If this is just the beginning of Fall and it's freezing enough to snow, then I wonder how cold the winter is going to be." I hope that in the next month that all the people that got caught in Hurricane Sandy will be back to their normal lives.
Your weird Er bear.
you guys might think i am crazy but i want to swim in the hurricane. Its weird cause i just feel like being in a storm
WHAT CORAH HAHHA
Wow, are you crazy, Corah!!!!
Um... Maybe a little crazy... Sorry. Don't try that or I will personally drag you back to your house. Kids don't try that at home!
Its so crazy Corah.
Your definitely crazy Corah!!!
It will be good when sientests figure out how to stop hurricanes. At least it was Sandy instead of Katrina.
The pictures weren't as tragic I thought but there are much more pictures that are very tragic and sad. The only one in those 22 pictures that seemed tragic was the one with the young girl the looked all freaked out with a guy lifting her out of water. I feel very empathetic for all of the New Yorkers and New Jerseyers.
Ouch... I feel so sad! So much destruction!!!!! Absolutely chaotic! I just hope that everyone will be alright.... And to think, we were pigging out at home! Having FUN! While all this happened. I feel really guilty. I'll be hoping (and praying) for the people who were hit by hurricane Sandy.
I'll prey with you Madeleline!!!
Will you pray with me?
Sorry I have to add something.
Those pictures remind me that life is short. Remember that. Have you ever heard of the expression Y.O.L.O? It means, you only live once. If you have a chance at something, do it!
I agree Aimee.
I'm incredibly sad for anyone who was affected by this horrible storm. I will prey for anyone who lost their homes, family and lives.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....... very funny
I am so sorry to the people in NYC, my grandpa's daughter was trapped in her apartment on the 6th floor she was ok but still very dangerous. If I were in her shoes I would be terrified.
Most of all the hospitals had to evacuate because of power lost and nurses had to carry babies down maybe 50 flights of stairs.
Molly, your right about the babies and your Relative was trapped in her Apartment?! That sounds scary!
When I saw the picture of the little girl it made me sad. She might have gone outside to play and that's when the Hurricane landed. She might have drowned if they had not found her. I feel sorry for the little girl's parents because what if they thought she had died. The picture almost made me cry.
On picture nine, the tree in the house was so sad. My grandparents lost their power. I'm so thankful it did not hit us. Every single picture was so sad I was going to cry.
My grandma decided to come home early from a trip and she did not know that the Hurricane was here so she came home in flooding and had to spend the night in a near bye hotel that was in tact.
I felt bad because people where in line waiting for gas. The people might have died in the flood. The trees fell down on houses and some people got hurt. Most people drowned in the subway and some people made it.
I felt bad for the people this mass hurricane hit. My grandparents live in New York and they are going to be without power for a whole week. In Atlantic City, N.J. the cars are flooded there houses are damaged I would not want to be them right now. I am happy that President Obama and Governor Romney had sympathy and skipped their campaign to talk to the places that have drilled by this multi-storm hurricane. One thing I thought was a weird was the hurricane rained, snowed, and had high winds. You have to now this hurricane is pretty bad because they closed Wall Street for two whole days. It was a very devastating hurricane I hope the victims can recover and people that died R.I.P. ( rest in peace ).
Thats good Chris I also agree with you.
Chris, I think this was the first time Wall Street has closed for two consecutive days due to the weather since 1888! That was before Basketball was invented!
Wooww... i can't believe this hurricane sandy can cause this much of a mess like this.
The picture of the little girl is very, very sad. I mean she might have had the day off school and went outside to play and was swept away in water :[.
tear jenny.. ;(.
What do you mean Jenny
When I saw the little three year old girl being saved it made feel like I could be empathetic, because she's my brother's age. To put myself in the shoes of people in New York, I would be terrified to be in a storm like Hurricane Sandy, with power outages and knocked down trees. My aunt was in this storm and she lives in Ossining, New York and there was lots of flooding and her power went out. I was devastated to hear that so many people were hurt and even killed. Hurricane Sandy was very scary and dangerous.
The Lincoln Tunnel is flooded 12 ft. out of 13 ft. and they have to pump the water out so cool!!!
I agree with you Jasmine.
I agree jasmine
2 words. I . . . . agree
I am glad it did not hit us. I really feel bad for those people.
Madeleine I really liked it.
Molly, I hope your grandparents are all right. Its so sad.
It stinks when you think that there will trillions more disasters like this.
I feel sorry for everyone who lives in N.j, N.y and whoever had to deal with that. Also the man who had a tree fall into his house I once happened to me.
Manasi, my aunt is currently in NY and I was really scared that my aunt was in danger but it turned out she was fine.
Well that's good!!
I am glad you got good news out of this bad storm!!!!
I feel bad how the subways were flooded. I hope the zoo animals are okay.this was a huge hurricane
I feel really bad for them. I wish I could be there from them and to help them carry on.When I LOOK at the pictures i't makes me think............. what if that was me. caught IN THE HURRICANE it would make me feel I was giving up. but I know I can't give up!!!<3
Those pictures made me sad to the point of wonting to go to and help in anyway I can. These pictures make me think about my cousin, Steve, in Western Maryland. He is now in 3 feet of snow and lost all of his feed for his cows and sheep. he also had his 15 year old generator
quit on him so he can not pump water to his cattle.
Freaky stuff right my little sister was worried about it.
I feel bad for those people.
The photos I have just seen take my breath away. I heard of the destruction, watched the news, and thought that I understood. BUT, the pictures of people standing in line for food, of NYC in the dark, and fires amid the rains were horrifying. I am quite thankful for my soggy front yard and all the leaves on my driveway. I raked them and that was the worst for me...not very bad, huh?
No not bad at all
Not too bad, your right. Feel lucky.
I think your right:( Too bad. Did you see the Comparisons on the weather of hurricane Irene and hurricane Sandy? It was weird. By the way, i have a 60 year-old (she looks like she is 40) neighbor who's name is Sandy. She just turned 60.
Knowing that we were going to miss most of the wind and rain, I began to worry about my friends and family. My family in Maine is OK, and now has power (YAY!), but I still have not heard from one of my best friends. He lives in Yonkers, NY, which is right on the Hudson River! I am going to try and call him again right now. I hope he is safe.
The storm has caused a great deal of damage and many people are without power. Its storms such as these that cause us to realize which things in life are most important, and which things in life are secondary. Family is important, as is having a warm and dry place to live and sleep. The storm touched us all in our most vulnerable spot: our home.
My hope is that from Hurricane Sandy we all grow in our appreciation of the most important things in our lives...things so constantly present that we can easily lose sight of just how meaningful they are.
Lincoln i think that it was very touching. I loved the things you said
Hi Mr. Granger!!!!!
Wow! Great speech!
My grandparents are fine. They hade to delay halloween in New Jersey.
All these photos... So much debt, destruction and pain! I really feel for those people. That bedraggled little girl... did she find her family?
i was watching the news this morning i was glad because the storm was over but a lot of damage was left over a lot of people homes were destroyed to i really feel sorry :(
Mr.Rivard, I hope your friend is safe up in New York, but didn't they evacuate the places that were near the rivers?
Did anyone hear about the amusement park in New Jersey?
Kind of, isn't it in Ocean City? I've walked by there when I was going to the new concrete and old wooden boardwalk. I really wanted to go there and now I cant. I went because my moms cousin lives there. I hope she and her husband are okay.
I am happy the storm is done.
and how it was flooded and everything was covered with water.
I feel bad for the tunnel.
Did you see the comparisons of hurricane Irene and hurricane Sandy on the weather? Anyone?
I felt terrible when I saw these pictures. The picture that I mostly felt terrible of was the picture of the little girl crying. Her face made me feel so bad. The subway was filled with water and people getting gasoline and all the pictures made me feel horrible, terrible, sad, bad, and unhappy. There was one picture that made me feel better was the one where the beautiful swan was swimming in the middle of the watery road. All of the pictures were horrible, but thank you to the swan that made me better.
OMG its so sad.I wanted to cry.
I hope the little girl gets to go trick or treating.
Apparently during the storm, my Aunt and Uncle who live in Purciville, VA and in a practical forest, a tree fell on their house where thier kitchen is and crumpled the roof, so they have a tree in their kitchen now. They are currently in a hotel and the have three german shepards (ones a puppy) too. That makes it even harder. They will have to find a pet frendly rent and stay out of their house for four to six months. I am so devistated!! I hope they can still come to Thanksgiving.:(:(:(:( I am soooo sad. :(
I saw some pictures of this and it wasn't as bad as I thought!:)
I agree with Zareth's reflections. It takes your breath away when you look at the devastation from this storm. It reminds us of how fragile life can be and how we all need to rely on each other for unconditional love and support. God Bless all of the families through this difficult time.
That was a good reflection too, I think
I think the votting will be interesting. People in like New York won't be able to vote. Thay will not beable to beacuse thay have speshal places to vote.
I think that a lot of tragedy and heart-break could have been averted if people had evacuated like they were supposed to. Some of the hesitation might have been due to the mandatory evacuation of Hurricane Irene which wasn't as bad as forecasted, but even then, people should have followed the authorities's advice which might have saved lives - property can always be replaced.
My aunt just tould me that local fire departments went to help the New Yorkers. I feel good that they did that.
I think that picture #8 is a completely tragic scene. I am pretty certian that it was the entrance to a subway station, If that is true then they will have to pump water out of miles and miles of train track. Almost all of the people in New York use the subway, too. How will they travel? It will take months to get the trains working again. Hurricane Sandy really was a disaster.
Riley, your thoughts and reflections on the image is so poignant! I am really impressed that you took the time to revisit the page and blog some more on Hurricane Sandy. Very impressive!!!
